Quick Learners
I heard a line on a podcast that went something like this: The person hoped their children would be quick learners and hard to kill.
For some reason that resonated with me.
Broad enough to encapsulate a lot of wisdom in it.
It also carries with it the notion of agency for children.
To learn about the world. To be clever enough not to be duped into situations at their peril.
To act in the world. To take risks.
There is nothing passive about these goals or wishes.
Definitely better than, I just hope they’ll be happy.
